All about the documentation

Nice to see you here! This is my space for sharing my perspective on the crucial role of documentation in IT projects. I love it here and aim to highlight the importance of comprehensive documentation.

I observe a significant lack of documentation in companies worldwide. While I understand how this trend evolved, what baffles me is that no one seems to miss it or recognize its impact. The absence of proper documentation leads to numerous issues: prolonged onboarding of new team members, outdated and repetitive knowledge, and excessive meetings just to gather essential information. These are just a few of the problems that arise when knowledge isn’t written down and shared across the team.

For someone who creates or crafts documentation, I like to share my ideas on how it should be done. I prefer it to be modular, non-repetitive, and trustworthy. This is the state I love to find documentation in, no matter what position I am hired for in my new job.

In this space, I will share my fears and experiences related to both the presence and absence of documentation. My goal is to demonstrate how vital it is to share information, ideas, and, most importantly, knowledge.

Why? How? Who? What? How detailed? When? These are the questions that users, developers, analysts, and others have, and documentation exists to answer them.

Just write it down. Somebody needs to know.
